I'm Not Green After All

Posted on Fri Dec 19, 2003 at or around 07:05 pm MST

[ Who knew?]

Happy Friday. Only 6 more days....

Donna talked me into taking a small online quiz in order to determine what color I would be, if I were to be a color. Now only if there were a quiz to see what kind of tree I would be, if I were to be a tree.

Anyways, here are my results.

you are gold
#FFD700

Your dominant hues are red and green, so you're definately not afraid to get in and stir things up. You have no time for most people's concerns, you'd rather analyze with your head than be held back by some random "gut feeling".

Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

SpyMac Links

Posted on Wed Nov 19, 2003 at or around 10:47 pm MST

[isightPod]

So...a while back I had this radical idea of plugging my iSight camera into my iPod so that I could use it to take movies. Pretty cool, huh? I was looking around on SpyMac and came across this artistic conceptual drawing of what a device like this might look like. Apparently, I am not the only one who has had this thought. Click here to take a gander at it.

While I am on the subject of linking to SpyMac, I may as well include this link as well. With the coming of the PowerMac G5, the end of the line for the PowerMac G4 has arrived. The G4 has come a long way. It was a work of art, with it's curved handles and easy opening door.

Goodbye, G4...you will be missed.

Another shorty post. I am outta here.

[Mac OS X Humor]

I get a kick out of reading Foxtrot everyday. Bill Amend always finds a way to sneek some geek humor into his comic strip. Bill must be a Mac fan, as the computer of choice in the Fox household is the iFruit, a parody of the iMac. He also has a homepage on .Mac.

The iFruit must be running OS X, or else it would not fear popcorn.

Too funny.

That's all for today. I am outta here.

Teen has bright future at Quark Inc.

[Other People's News]

Due to carpal tunnel syndrome setting in from my last monstrous post, I am going to "Microsoft" this one, and by that, I mean I am going to copy a lot of someone else's text, and add a little of my own, making it a new original.
Last week there was a story in the news about a teenager that got shot in the face with a frog, leaving him blind. Here is the story, as reported by MSNBC.com:

Teenager Blinded By 'Toy' Gun

DALLAS, 8:48 a.m. CDT April 16, 2003 - A teenager has lost his sight after being struck in the face with a frog, shot from a so-called "potato gun."

Daniel Benjamin Berry, 17, received the injury after he looked down the barrel of the gun's PVC pipe barrel and was hit in the face by the frog.

His mother, Lisa Berry, said he's now blind in both eyes. She hopes her family's tragedy serves as a warning to other parents.

"Any of y'all's children could bring it home, and you'd not even know they have it," she said. "It could end their life or their neighbor's life or your life."

Potato guns are made of pipe with one end sealed. A potato is wedged into the open end and a flammable liquid put into a sealed chamber is ignited, launching the object.

Denton County Sheriff's Department spokesman Kevin Patton said the accident happened Sunday when Daniel Berry joined a crowd of teenagers watching the gun be fired. Patton said when it misfired, Daniel Berry looked down the barrel to see what was wrong when the gun went off.

Investigators said the teenager who owns the gun purchased it off the Internet. Potato guns are not illegal in Texas, so prosecutors will not file charges in the incident.

In a related story,

Fred Ebrahimi, president of Quark, Inc, announced today that he would be seeking to hire Daniel Berry to work on their flagship program QuarkXpress. "Loss of sight will not limit Daniel's contributions to our organization. He will feel right at home with the rest of our software developers. Have you ever seen QuarkXpress? Sight does not, nor has it ever, played a major role in the development of the user interface. He will be very welcome here.", stated Fred.

Fred also stated, "At least he still has all of his fingers and toes. In addition to development, we may also utilize his skills in the Sales Accounting department, where he will be responsible for counting each and every copy of the all new QuarkXpress version 6.0 sold. If current trends are any indication, he won't have to count past his left big toe."

Hopefully Fred is right about the big toe thing. The last thing we need in this world is more Quark. I have a theory that they just repackage their original software build and put a new version number on it every now and then, occasionally fixing a bug when their loyal flock of sheep user base cries loud and long enough about it.

What we DO need more of in this world though, is potato guns. Yeah, that's right..potato guns. Since reading the article, I have become intrigued by potato guns, or "novelty item launchers" as they are called in the "business". I have been thinking about buying a few, because as an American, it is my right to bear arms, even if those arms do nothing more than launch potatos. I really like this one, and this one. Or I may just build one.

Enough typing! I am outta here.......
